A Reading Challenge between DHZH and DHSZ
May 3rd , 2022 marked the beginning of a new initiative run jointly between Dulwich International High School Zhuhai and Dulwich International High School Suzhou: The Reading Streak Challenge.
The 32-day Challenge encouraged students and staff to read every day for a minimum of 20 minutes for as many consecutive days as possible, offering an opportunity for everyone to establish reading into their daily routines.
The Power of Reading
A lot of evidence shows that the highest achievers are also avid readers. Not only does it help one improve their vocabulary and comprehension, but it also helps develop one’s memory and focus, critical and analytical thinking, broaden one’s knowledge, make one a more empathetic person. All this will support students in improving their learning results at school.
At Dulwich Zhuhai, the Challenge opened to Year 10 only during the exam season. The turnout was phenomenal with 58 students making a concerted effort to keep up their reading streaks.

At Dulwich International High School Suzhou, due to pandemic restrictions that led to online learning and exam cancellation, the Challenge was available to all four Year Groups with a fantastic response. The winners were as follows:

Year 12 – Sarah C, 23 days recorded
Year 13 – Veronica C, 12 days recorded
